ABOUT THE SERIES
These paintings are based on photographs taken during personal travels. The use of a hardedge style is deliberate, and is used to convey a personal struggle with painting realistic landscapes. The environment is generalized, while the colors are enhanced to produce a balance of natural and abstract forms. These abstractions simultaneously convey both an organic fluidity as well as a blocky concreteness. The viewer is placed into a conflict with the landscape as natural or abstract; this series offers a technical solution to this opposition
