Each painting examines what each of the 50 states is famous for through the use of generalized, abstract representation. Each piece is created with a meticulous attention to detail and an emphasis on color; a deliberate hard-edge style divides the tension between natural fluidity and blocky concreteness. The viewer is left with a brief two-part introspection: an examination of each state's infamous attribute, and a deeper look into the visual possibilities of forms.
